Costume Shop News:
It's been a whirlwind of a month!
October is always our busiest time in the costume shop, and this year was a record one. Our community came out to play this Halloween and The Belrose was there to help make it happen. There were days when I'd dress the shop mannequins, only for them to be immediately undressed in order to outfit a customer.
I love days like that; the excitement over finding that perfect fit, that perfect funny idea come to life, that glamourous siren emerging from the dressing room. That sense of satisfaction when everyone else in the shop can spot how transformed someone is by the outfit they've chosen. It's glorious and feels just like magic!
So, what's next for us?
Well, the last couple of weeks have revolved around cleaning, repairing and processing all of our Halloween rentals, but soon the Christmas season will be upon us. Santa costumes are the next in demand item, and already the requests are pouring in. Even sooner than that however, The Great Dickens Christmas Fair begins at The Cow Palace in Daly City. This means Victorian regalia! Hoop skirts, bonnets, top hats and tails are on the menu and the chance to immerse in 1850s London with hot cider, absinthe, bangers and mash and maybe an interaction with Oliver Twist's Fagan or Scrooge himself.
In Theater News:
Fringe of Marin did a small run of shows in the main theater which garnered rave reviews. We have some chamber orchestra performances as well as some dance workshops on the books in the near future and generally looking at monthly bookings going into the new year.
Open Mic is going strong, too! So many new patrons have been curious about the opportunity to perform or just have an evening of local entertainment. I see big things happening for our humble little theater going forward!
As you can see, all good things are ahead for us at The Belrose. Now if you'll pardon me, I've got a pirate to repair and a monk to bathe.
