We are in the midst of a cold winter storm here in the Bay Area as is more than half of the rest of the country. While it's considered mild in Marin, it's still a significant reminder that winter isn't quite done with us yet.
The shop is rather quiet this week, which isn't much of a surprise. That funny time, post holidays, pre-Easter where the weather dictates costume wear. No sense in getting jazzed up if you've got to wear a puffer coat over it all! The down time has given me a chance to do a little deep cleaning and mending projects as well as some photos and videos to edit for our social media platforms.
When Margie Belrose was still with us, our best advertising tool was her force of personality. She would make a couple of phone calls to the local paper, get a reporter to come and do a small piece on the show she was producing, and word spread. Without her voice as a driver, we are turning more to social media to help remind the world that we are still here and that despite the loss of our beloved matriarch, we still want to provide a charming theatre space, quality costumes and live entertainment.
Our Facebook page is definitely our longest running presence on socials. Started in 2009, our network has grown to reach people hyper-locally as well as nationally. It's definitely the place that we go to first when we have news to share. If Facebook's your thing, find us there: https://www.facebook.com/TheBelrose
Looking for an Instagram account that is more costume and Renaissance Faire focused and definitely a whimsical look at the world and what makes us excited in the art and theater world? Look no further than @the_belrose! It's a great platform to really cut loose with our creativity. I'd tell you about it, but you should really see it for yourself:
Tiktok is our newest venture, which I will admit requires quite a bit of time to really dig into. It's got a lot to offer, reaching out to our younger generations who may have never even heard of The Belrose. It's been fun learning the ins and outs of the app and it's interesting to see how similar businesses are using the platform to reach out to people all over the world.
Hyper local platforms are another new thing we're delving into. It makes sense for us to touch base with our neighbors who might be looking for a fun night out or a costume for their next event. The Patch and Nextdoor are very active in our area and we're seeing interest in our weekly Open Mic nights which is giving a very exciting boost of new talent.
And of course, we have our regular email campaigns and this humble blog! If you're not into the socials, but are interested in a direct email on what we have coming up, you can sign up for our emails directly from our website www.thebelrose.com at the link below!
So come find us! We've got lots of fun ahead.
